Program Description:

Challenge and Champions (C&C) is a 3 week program of academic, social and fitness instruction for rising 6th-8th graders on the Emory University campus. The goal of C&C is to provide an enrichment curriculum that teaches academic skills and content, independent learning skills, physical education skills, social problem-solving behaviors, and habits that will promote health and fitness. The program is appropriate for both average and advanced learners from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.

C&C’s curriculum is based on principles of early adolescent development that emphasize integrated learning experiences during this period of rapid, cognitive, social and physical exploration and growth. It employs research-based methods of instruction. The program teaches skills and strategies for successful; value is placed on respect for individual; and each youth develops physical skills through a wide variety of group and individual sports activities.

This year, C&C was runner-up for Center for Summer Learning Excellence Award. This is a premiere summer learning program in Georgia where youth have the opportunity to broaden their perspective and develop skill sets in teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship. This program makes use of many resources on the Emory University campus including libraries, museums, planetarium, computer labs, and athletic facilities. C &C provides a fun and enriching environment for adolescents to challenge themselves to become champions.
