
If you’ve been following the ESEA reauthorization and Voices for Georgia’s Children’s legislative updates, you have probably noticed that bills move at a very different pace in Congress than they do down at the State Capitol. It often takes much longer for bills to move through the federal process, especially bills as large and impactful as ESEA.
There has not been much movement of the ESEA reauthorization bills in the last few weeks, but we’ll keep our eyes on them for you and will be sure to alert you when there are new developments. The Senate’s reauthorization bill is still in committee negotiations and is scheduled to be marked up by the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee in mid-April. Between now and then, Senator Isakson needs to continue to hear from you about the importance of afterschool programs to you and your community – let him know today!
