Spotlight (2)

By Sarina Marsh, MSW Intern

This week, GSAN is spotlighting some of the amazing afterschool programs around Georgia in honor of Lights on Afterschool. Today’s spotlight program is STAR House Foundation’s site at Esther Jackson Elementary.

STAR House Foundation’s mission is to promote academic success and enrich the lives of at-risk youth. Since 1993, STAR House has provided afterschool programming in Roswell. STAR House currently serves over 250 students at two elementary schools and one middle school. STAR House’s site at Esther Jackson Elementary serves K-5 students and provides homework assistance and mentoring.

STAR House at Esther Jackson Elementary celebrates Lights On Afterschool with a “day in the life” experience. Spend the afternoon at Esther Jackson interacting with students on a typical day after school, and learn about the program’s contribution to the community, Friday, October 21, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Stay tuned for the recap of the event next week!
