Afterschool Sustainability AmeriCorps VISTA

As Afterschool Sustainability AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America), Joe supports GSAN’s efforts to establish community outreach and engagement strategies that communicate the benefits of afterschool and summer programs and persuade community leaders and entities to provide support to improve, sustain, and expand afterschool and summer programs for youth who need them most.

Previously, Joe worked for 3 years in military intelligence.  Later, he directed K-12 service-learning for the State of Florida, managed AmeriCorps VISTA programs in Florida and Washington, D.C., and was a program officer and portfolio manager for the Corp. for National and Community Service/AmeriCorps. He earned his B.A. from Emory University, M.A. from the University of Virginia, and doctorate from George Washington University GWU, and also taught graduate courses at GWU.
